Family History

The idea of writing about some family-related memories appealed to me. I am an only child in a family with loving parents. Since I have no siblings, most of my memories involve my mother, a very important person in my life.

My childhood was filled with my mother's care, love, and attention. She always tried to give me a many-sided education. Knowing that reading wasn't quite my favorite pastime, for my eighth birthday she gave me a thick book, called "The Prince and the Peasant". We read the first chapter aloud, together. Her criticism, and intriguing intonations fascinated and interested me so much, that I gladly read the whole book. Since then, reading became one of my favorite hobbies.

My mother also supported my interest in music when I was twelve. She always was around to pay attention, and to help me learn to play the piano. At the time, my father attended the University, and it was hard for us to afford music-lessons, but my mother found ways to pay for it. She made up the grateful audience to all of my newly-learned pieces. Even if I wasn't very good at it, she always supported me, and assured me that I would succeed. She always attended concerts given for parents, at the music school, and she would always applaud me when I finished playing my piece.

Every summer, my parents and I, would go on vacation to the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. Since I wasn't very healthy as a child, my mother tried to help me feel better, by taking holistic medicine, such as certain herbs and mineral water. Our whole family stayed in a sanitarium. From there, we often ventured to local rivers, lakes, and mountain streams, gathering medicinal herbs, and watching the sunset. I find remembering these outings, and the nature very pleasing. The medicinal knowledge I received there about holistic medicine, often helps me find a cure when I am sick.

My mother taught me how to socialize with different people: at work, or with friends. She often told me about what she did at work, and what went on. She would tell me of dialogues that she had with her bosses, how other people conversed with their boss, and what would be the right thing to say in the situation. Still she often gives me advice on solving my problems.

Of course we did have some disagreements. I remember, when I was about fifteen, I used to love spending all my free time outside, hanging out with my friends. My mother didn't always favor that, and often we argued because she thought I didn't spend any time with her. I would often lose track of time, and sit outside with my friends until nighttime, and she would often come outside to get me. This would always upset me, and we would have a long fight about each time, it as soon as I got home. At about twenty years old, I realized how strange her character was, not able to withstand opposition. Most of our disagreements, however, occurred due to minor causes. Whenever I came home tired, from work in need of some rest, she would always urge me right away to clean up, or to go grocery shopping, telling me not to be lazy. Personally, at those times I had no will to even move, more so to go grocery shopping. Even now we often have arguments, but we settle them quickly, because we can't live very long without each other. I often let her win at arguments, knowing that she only wants what's good for me, and that she won't back down anyway.

Seven years ago, I moved to the US. The distance between us only reminds me of how much I miss being with my mother, her kindness, her care, and her support. I try to call every week, and to hear her voice. And if she's not home, then to just leave a message – to remind her that I miss her.

The Protestant Reformation

During the late 1400s, England became a country plagued by changes, both good and bad. Knights, who were once prominent in England faded away and became less popular. Soon after that, the Renaissance swept into and changed England dramatically. The Renaissance, which started in France and many other western European nations, was a time of prospering for literature, art, science and learning. At the same time the Renaissance was occurring, a religious revolution was beginning, which was known as the Protestant Reformation. The Protestant Reformation helped to influence and strengthen the Renaissance that was just arising in England. Many people became instrumental in bringing about the Protestant Reformation like John Calvin and most importantly Martin Luther.

Martin Luther and John Calvin were two of the men who wanted changes in the Roman Church. Martin Luther, who was a professor of theology at the University of Wittenberg had protested against the Roman Catholic Church priciples. As stated in the encyclopedia, on October 1, 1517, he posted on the door of the castle church at Wittenberg, his 5 theses, inviting debate on matters of practice and doctrine (Reformation, pg. 1). These 5 theses caused debate on matters of practice and doctrine. These actions were not considered a revolt against the church because Luther wanted the church to only reform. John Calvin, whom many considered to be the greatest theologian of Protestantism, also helped in the Reformation. He wrote Institutes of the Christian Religion, which was published at Basal in 156 (Reformation,

pg. ). Calvin and Luther disagreed on only one principle, the Doctrine of Predestination, which means that God choose those to be saved. The impact that Both these men had helped to begin the reformation of the church that furthered the continuance of the Renaissance.

As the Reformation continued in England, a conflict formed between the Roman Catholic Church and King Henry VIII. King Henry VIII was married to a Roman Catholic named Catherine of Aragon. She was the widow of King Henry VIIIs brother, therefore making their marriage illegal under church law, but the Pope used special papal dispensation, which means the Pope allowed the marriage to happen (Reformation, pg. 1). Since Catherine could not produce any male offspring, King Henry VIII claimed the papal dispensation went against ecclesiastical law and that the marriage was therefore invalid (Reformation, pg. 1). However, the Pope said the marriage was legal and did not annul it. At the same time this was happening, the King fell in love with a woman named Ann Boleyn and eventually married her. King Henry VIII then had the Archbishop of Canterbury announce his divorce from Catherine; thus forcing the pope to kick him out of the church In 154, King Henry VIII created the Church of England from the Act of Supremacy (Act..., pg. 1). This established a separate church from the Catholics. The Church of England continued under the reign of King Edward VI, repealing any laws the Roman Catholic Church had passed against the Church of England. Mary I tried to restore Roman Catholicism, but the people protested. Finally, under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Protestantism was restored, keeping the Church of England the main religion.

Overall, the Protestant Reformation contributed greatly to the continuance of, and shaping of the Renaissance. The Renaissance gave a chance for people in England to reform the

religion, mainly because many other things in England were changing also. Along with the

people wanting change many great theologians like Calvin and Luther wanted change too, and

when the church refused to change, the Protestant Reformation began.

The Tragedy of Julius Caesar

The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare is one of the world's most famous tragic plays. There are three main characters in this play, Marcus Brutus, Julius Caesar, and Cassius. Marcus Brutus is a servant and close friend of Caesar and has a strong relationship with him. Brutus' character is very naïve, which leads to his downfall. In the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, the downfall of Brutus could have been prevented if her weren't so naïve and if he had not allowed Antony to live.

Brutus is a well-respected character in this play. From the very beginning of Caesars crowning, Brutus views Caesar as a threat not only to himself, but also towards Rome. Even though Brutus is considered a close friend to Caesar, Brutus is nobler towards the good f Rome. Brutus knows something has to be done about Caesar because a lot of damage could be done if Caesar was crowned king and given to much power.

" And therefor think him as a serpents egg which hatched would as his kind, grow

Mischievous; And kill him in the shell."

This shows Brutus' thoughts on Caesar and what will happen if he is crowned king.

Brutus wanted to kill Caesar for "the good or Rome". He organized a group of conspirators in which they plotted out a way to kill Caesar. Brutus is the leader of the conspiracy and the foundation of it.

" Judge me, you gods! Wrong mine enemies? And if not so, how should I wrong a brother?"

This statement is ironic because Brutus says that he would not betray his enemies, let alone his friend. He was naïve enough to think that he would be doing all of Rome a favor by killing Caesar, so it wouldn't become a betrayal.

The downfall of Brutus could have been prevented if he would have killed Antony along with Caesar. Brutus was naïve enough to think that Antony, who was one of Caesar's closest friends, would not try to get revenge on them for what they did. Cassius wanted to kill Antony along with Caesar because he knew that if Antony was allowed to live that something bad would become of it. But Brutus decided to give him a chance to prove that he was just. Another example of Brutus' naivete was when he allowed Antony to speak at Caesar's funeral. Once again, Cassius didn't think that this would be a good idea, but Brutus gave Antony a chance to say his final "good-byes" to Caesar. Little did Brutus know that Antony is going to take advantage of this, and plant a seed in the plebeians for revenge on the conspirators.

" If I were disposed to stir your hearts and minds to mutiny and rage, I should do Brutus and Cassius wrong, who, you all know, are honorable men."

Antonys funeral oratation caused a catastrophe for Brutus and Cassius by causing the plebeians to want revenge for the murder or Caesar. Because the plebeians wanted revenge, a huge war broke out between the armies of Brutus and Cassius and they knew that Antonys army would defeat them. The armies met at Phillipi where they started the battle. Brutus knew that their army had no chance of winning so he killed himself during the war out of honor instead of the embarrassment of being captured.

Brutus' downfall could have been prevented if he has listened to Cassius' opinions and killed Antony along with Caesar, instead of letting his tragic flaw, naivete and his harmartia get in the way. Brutus gave Antony a chance to live, being naïve enough to think that Antony would not try to get revenge in any possible way on Brutus. If only Brutus has listened to Cassius the whole time, all he conflicts and catastrophes could have been prevented.

Alcohol abuse

A friend of my friend was an alcoholic. One day, he was out of control after drinking and jumped from a six-story building. He is still alive but retarded because his head was damaged. It¡¯s a real story. This is a painful experience, not only to him, but also to the people around him. Lots of people like drinking. For those who use it responsibly, alcohol can be a part of a healthy lifestyle and can enhance the quality of life. However, the abuse of alcohol has the potential to ruin lives. It can impact human¡¯s health, cause family problems, and social problems.

Alcohol can both physically and psychologically influence a person¡¯s health; not only themselves, but also their children. Chronic alcoholism damages the brain, liver, heart and other organs. Numbers of deaths for Alcohol-related liver cirrhosis are 1178 in 18 and 1145 in 17 in the United States. In high doses, alcohol can cause loss of consciousness and even death. Drinking during pregnancy is dangerous. Alcohol can have a number of harmful effects on the baby, such as abortion, causing retardation or learning and behavioral problems. We don¡¯t know how much alcohol is required to cause these problems. However, these alcohol-related diseases are one hundred percent preventable.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Alcohol abuse

Alcohol can cause family problems, such as domestic violence, divorce and difficult children. People can¡¯t control themselves after they drink. Their body says ¡°no¡± but their mind says ¡°yes¡±. I saw many examples of this before. A husband argued with his wife after he got drunk. He yelled at her concerning house chores and hit her. But when he was sober, he always regretted hitting her and said ¡°sorry¡± to her. However, he repeated his silly actions again and again. His wife lost hope in him and left him finally. Drinkers focus on alcohol and pay lots of money for alcohol. They are less careful with their children, and neglect the children¡¯s emotional and physical needs. The drinker¡¯s mood obviously affects the children too. They often see and hear domestic violence and feel unhappy and scared. They are more aggressive in school and often have learning difficulties. They may have same problems when they grow up.

Many social problems are caused by alcohol; for example, drunk driving, accidents and violence. Alcohol-related traffic crash fatalities were 41.0% in all traffic crash fatalities in 10 and 0.1% in 1 in the United States. The cost in crashes, fires, criminal justice etc. caused by alcohol, was ,04 millions us dollars in 1 and 475 millions us dollars in 15 in the United States. What an incredible number! The primary reason is people can¡¯t control themselves very well after drinking. They have lower reaction time and become unconscious while driving a car or using machinery. There are more opportunities to cause accidents, such as car crashes, which cause injury and death. Drunk driving is a national problem and is prohibited by government all over the world. People are easy to get angry with other people when they are drunk. Fist they argue, then they fight each other. Drinking causes many acts of violence.

Alcohol can cause some diseases, family problems and social problems. People like drinking when they stay together, especially in festivals such as Christmas and Thanksgiving Day. Alcohol can help to increase the festival¡¯s atmosphere. People feel happier and more relaxed after drinking. Studies have shown that smaller amounts of alcohol help protect against heart disease. But if we over used or used it irresponsibly, it will ruin our lives. Keep in mind that a good thing can become a bad thing, so can alcohol.

Please note that this sample paper on Alcohol abuse is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Alcohol abuse, we are here to assist you. In the play "Othello" by William Shakespeare, Othello had both some positive

aspects and some negative aspects about him. He falls from prosperity to suffering, but

not necessarily in a material sense. His fall was from happiness and love, to

unhappiness and distrust. He was superior over every other man as a heroic soldier and he was very well respected by everyone. Othello, a black Moor, has spent his life as a soldier and become a general in the army of Venice, Italy. He was a citizen who was respected and had a good reputation. He was a jealous man. He was jealous of Cassio, because he thought he was having an affair with his wife, Desdemona. Othello trusted Iago, an ensign to Othello. Although they were close, Othello should have been wiser. Othello's flaw was his trusting nature. He trusted Iago when he should have not, and ironically, denied his trusting nature; the one time he should allow himself to trust someone. Othello also ended up being a murderer at the end of the play due to Iago's lies.

Order custom research paper on Othello

One of Othello's positive aspects was his love for everyone especially his wife, Desdemona. Some line's from the play that help understand this love is "And till she come, as truly as to heaven / I do confess the vices of my blood, / So justly to your grave ears I'll present / How I did thrive in this fair lady's love, / And she in mine." "Come, Desdemona, I have but an hour / Of love, or worldly matter, and direction / To spend with thee. We must obey the time." He was admired by everyone in the play, even Iago comments on what a good man Othello was. The handkerchief, the most crucial object in the play, symbolized Othello's love to Desdemona, since it was his first gift to her. Othello thinks that the handkerchief shows Desdemonas love and if she was to lose it, must clearly mean that she does not love him any longer.

One of Othello's negative aspects was that of jealousy. It is the green-eyed monster, Iago tells Othello, becomes a symbol representing Othellos dark feelings, a description of what is going through his head. Iagos speech was also deeply ironic, since it points out Othellos flaws, and the roots of his tragedy. Othello had no idea of the significance of these statements, and so takes them to heart. Othello is horribly jealous of what he thinks is going on between his wife and Cassio. This poisonous feeling turns Othello into a mad man and he strikes his wife. Othello then began to say that he believes that Desdemona is cheating directly. Othello uses his black skin as a symbol for how poorly spoken and unattractive he thinks he is. Othello doubts that Desdemona could love him, because of his misunderstanding of himself as being badly dressed, poorly spoken, and old; and because he begins to believe that Desdemona cannot love him, he starts to believe that she is having an affair. My name, that was as fresh / as Dians visage, is now begrimed and black / as mine own face, Othello says. Although the things he says against Desdemona are personally hurtful to him, Iago also makes Desdemona and Cassio seem like lustful animal lovers, by describing them as prime as goats, as hot as monkeys

I think the most interesting aspect of Othello's character was the way he could suddenly change his mood, because one moment he uses perfect structured and poetic language and the next minute he is in an utter rage. It is interesting to see how one person can affect a whole group of people and the devastating consequences that can be caused verbally. Shakespeare has giving both positive and negative aspects to the character Othello, making this one of the most respected poetic stories of all time.

Please note that this sample paper on Othello is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Othello, we are here to assist you. We are raised in a world with many diverse cultures. It's natural for us as human beings to compare things to each other, such as comparing one culture to ours. After -11 the focus on today's news is primarily on Muslim cultures, such as Afghanistan and Iraq.

Cultural relativism brings up a new way of looking at the many different cultures. It asks that we evaluate other cultures according to their standards, not ours. The Muslim culture is very different then the culture we live in. We don't have Christian suicide bombers or women covered head to toe. People should take that moment and understand it through there own eyes, not ours.

Muslim's all over the world pray to Ala. Their world revolves around Ala. They worship Ala day through night. Another cultural difference would be the way women dress. Muslim women all around the world dress covered from head to toe. There cultural difference are very different from what were used to here in United States of America, but it doesn't mean its less important.

We see groups and intelligent people make wrong decisions all the time when they are making choices that affect us. Why do they make these decisions when they are supposed to be the ones educated enough and most qualified for the position? There are a few factors that could contribute to this and one that I think is the biggest factor is bias.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Choose any culture and apply it to cultural relativism and ethnocenterism, & Miseducation or Bias?

When the President wants to make a decision on war or on a budget cut he is thinking about benefiting someone, weather this is the government or the people, a bias does exist. This not only applies for the President of the United States but also the President of a corporation when he needs to make some decisions. The President of the corporation will always make a decision that will benefit him and make him more money. This is a huge factor on why people in high places make bad decisions. Another factor on why some intelligent people and leaders make wrong decisions is because of miseducation.

When the people in these high positions don't put the time and effort into researching the effects of the decision they are about to make, they take a huge risk of making the wrong decision and negatively affecting a great deal of people. This is one of the mistakes I think that could be totally eliminated if we have the right people in these important positions.

Of course you can see why we see people in high places make wrong decision because of bias and greediness far more often than those who make wrong decisions because they are not educated sufficiently. There are even many examples of the people in high places that abuse their power, (Bill Gates, Martha Stewart, Leaders of Enron…) and I think there should be something to limit their power because soon someone is going to make a mistake that is going to hurt society on a large scale.

Intro

This document is an extract from Publius, The Federalist n°6, entitled The Real Character of the Executive and written by Alexander Hamilton on March 14th 1788, one of the 85 articles of The Federalist Papers written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison and published in New York newspapers. This particular one was published in the New-York Packet. I will go into this later.

Federalist = partisan of federalism, a political system defined by a union of states under a central government, contrary to the individual governments of separate states.

Context

Cheap University Papers on Essay on "Publius" - the Federalist n°69

It was not a certain thing that the Constitution devised by the 56 men of the convention would be accepted. There were many who raised arguments against the new Constitution. To counter this, Hamilton, Madison and Jay wrote The Federalist Papers and had them published in New York. From there they went out to all the colonies. They explain not only how the new government would work, but why it was necessary and how the men who wrote it arrived at the form they did. They are an important part of our history which is sadly neglected today.

The Federalist Papers were divided in 8 parts

- The Importance of the Union (1-14)

- Defects of the Articles of Confederation (15-)

- Arguments for the type of Government contained in the Constitution (-6)

- The Republican form of Government (7-51)

- The Legislative Branch (5-66)

- The Executive Branch (67-77)

- The Judicial Branch (78-8)

- Conclusions and Miscellaneous Ideas (84-85)

Consequences

-Six Acts

Lord Liverpool and his Tory government responded to the Peterloo Massace by introducing the Six Acts. When Parliament reassembled on rd November, 181, Lord Sidmouth, the government s Home Secretary, announced details of what later became known as the Six Acts. By the 0th December, 181, Parliament had debated and passed six measures that it hoped would suppress radical newspapers and meetings as well as reducing the possibility of an armed uprising.

(1) Training Prevention Act A measure which made any person attending a gathering for the purpose of training or drilling liable to arrest. People found guilty of this offence could be transportated for seven years.

() Seizure of Arms Act A measure that gave power to local magistrates to search any property or person for arms.

() Seditious Meetings Prevention Act A measure which prohibited the holding of public meetings of more than fifty people without the consent of a sheriff or magistrate.

(4) The Misdemeanours Act A measure that attempted to reduce the delay in the administration of justice.

(5) The Basphemous and Seditious Libels Act A measure which provided much stronger punishments, including banishment for publications judged to be blaspemous or sedtious.

(6) Newspaper and Stamp Duties Act A measure which subjected certain radical publications which had previously avoided stamp duty by publishing opinion and not news, to such duty.

These measures were opposed by the Whigs as being a suppression of popular rights and liberties. They warned that it was unreasonable to pass national laws to deal with problems that only existed in certain areas. The Whigs also warned that these measures would encourage radicals to become even more rebellious.

-Cato street conspiracy = plot to assassinate the government ministers

-Repeal of Corn Laws

-Reform Act in 18
