Geometry is the branch of mathematics dealing with the relations, properties, and the measurements of solids, surfaces, lines, points, and angles. The mathematician Euclid is often considered the Father of geometry. He is most well known for his book, The Elements. He was also the author of the most successful textbook next to Autolycusi's Sphere.


Euclid was born around 5 BC and died about 65 BC in Alexandria, Egypt. His birthplace is unknown. Very little is known about Euclid's life because the name Euclid was very popular at that time5. However, some fragments of The Elements have been found in potshards in Egypt and on pieces of papyrus dating around 100 BC. The earliest copy of his book dates around 888 BC. The Elements has been used in schools until 1014.


The beginning of his book starts with a list of definitions, postulates, and axioms, which he used to prove proposition after proposition. His method has served as the standard for scientific argumentation for other generations (proofs). The volumes are Books 1-6 Plane Geometry. Books 7- Number Theory. Book 10 Euxodus' Theory of Irrational numbers. Books 11-1 Solid Geometry.

No, just viewed in a different group.


When I think of a ghetto or the projects I think of a black society, when really there are Mexicans, Whites, blacks and other ethnic groups there. I have friends of different nationalities and color. I play baseball and we are a group working as one. Once I come off the field sometimes I feel as though the group is gone and I am alone. She dies and the town discovers Homer Barron in the upstairs bedroom. He had be dead for over forty years. Beside his body a long strand of iron gray hair is found. Ms. Emily had kept her love after all.

The more information he collects, the more of the mystery is unravelled, and greater the sense of accomplishment. To be given the chance to play little league was one of the greatest times of my life. I played little league for four years, and every year I made the all-star team. My best friend and I played on every regular season team and every all-star team together. The final game of our career was unforgettable.


It had been 4 years of great enjoyment with my best friend, Cody Smith. We always clowned around in practice, but when the game would start we had a high intensity. Cody would pitch, and I would play second base. When he wasn't pitching, I would, and he would play third base. We were the top players in little league, or so we thought.

So when the ball was pitched and hit to me I was determined to get the out. The ground ball took a bad bounce and hit me square in the ribs. I picked up the ball, which was to the left of me. I spun around and threw that ball with all my power to first base. The ball reached the first basemen's mitt a half step before the runner made it to the base for the third out and the championship.


Getting the chance to play with my best friend and winning the state championship was everything I had ever wanted then. Having such a great and inspiring coach made me feel proud to have won the championship for our coach. As for my father, I know he was proud, and I was grateful for all the time and effort he had spent with me. I know I will remember my final game, and all the people that made my little league career so great for the rest of my life.

The major setting of the play, 'Gary's House' is a house. It is rather symbolic on many different levels throughout the play, and in particular, for the characters.


The house holds quite importance to the character of Gary. For the character of Gary, it symbolises a new start and direction for his life. When Sue- Anne leaves Gary, he sees no point to continue and takes his life in the very place where he was to achieve the "perfect" life.For Sue- Anne the house is just somewhere for the family to live and does not hold much significance, but for Gary's sister Christine, it provides the beginning of a new journey, especially after Gary commits suicide as she take it on to finish what he started, creating a home yet again for Sue- Anne and the baby. In Act two, scene ten, when Sue- Anne announces that she is moving to the city with Vince and the baby, Christine loses the plot and feels like she has wasted her time and feels completely let down and used. She takes to the house and begins to smash it to pieces. It is the way Christine vents her feelings of anger and frustration which has built up inside her.


On a technical level, the house provides the play with a central focus- something that remains constant and grows throughout. The setting of the house is where all the tension and atmosphere for the play is created- especially in the first scenes where a frustrated Sue- Anne tries to maul Gary with a chainsaw. The conflict is created because of and around the constant setting of the house.
