Golding implies that if Simon leaves to join the others, he will still find evil among the boys at the
beach. On page 10 it reads, Simon, walking in front of Ralph, felt a flicker of incredulity-a beast with
claws that scratched, that sat on a mountain-top, that left no tracks and yet was not fast enough to catch
samneric. The next sentence says that Simon pictures a human at once heroic and sick. I do not believe
that Simon actually fears a beast but a man.
In conclusion, I think Golding is trying to imply that every human sees only the bad and not the
good side of people. Although Golding had just got out of WWII, I believe he has a point about the
